One of the most important states during the Lok Sabha Elections, West Bengal, has always been home to the hardcore politics as the eastern state of India is one of those states who prefers to pick the candidates of their local parties, over those of the national parties.
However, despite Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led TMC (Trinamool Congress), was able to finish as the biggest party in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections with 18 seats under their belt, they saw a dramatic drop of 12 seats from 2014 elections, while the ruling party in the centre, BJP made a dramatic jump to 18 seats in 2019, in comparison to just two in 2014.
The Lok Sabha Elections of West Bengal, will once again be talk of the town as the current scenarios of alliance and opposition is taking a new turn at regular intervals, as despite being part of I.N.D.I.A bloc, the ruling state party of TMC have decided to fight the elections alone, while contesting on all the 42 seats.
The state of West Bengal will have their 18th Lok Sabha polls distributes during the entire electoral period, as it will begin with phase one on April 19 and end with phase seven on June 1.

Phase 3: Date of polling- May 7
Phase 4: Date of polling- May 13
Phase 5: Date of polling- May 20

West Bengal was one of three states, whose General Elections were contested in all the seven phases in 2019. Once again, in the General Elections of 2024, the state will be having their Lok Sabha polls contested in all the seven phases along with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
West Bengal is the state with the third highest number of states with 42 Lok Sabha seats, only behind Uttar Pradesh with 80 and Maharashtra with 48, and all the seats are typically contested over different issues rather than one common mantra. Notably, out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, 30 seats are contested as unreserved seats, while ten seats are reserved for SC candidates and two seats are reserved for ST candidates.

After the complete domination of the BJP-led NDA alliance in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, INC, TMC, RJD, SP and many other parties, decided to come under one banner of I.N.D.I.A bloc. However, despite being a part of the newly formed alliance, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, has decided to contest the General Elections of 2024 alone, while contesting on all the 42 seats, making the West Bengal General Election of 2024, a three-way tussle between, NDA, I.N.D.I.A and TMC.
