Lucknow Super Giants

One of the latest entrants into the Indian Premier League, Lucknow Super Giants have emerged as a strong contender since their first season in 2022. The Super Giants have made it to the Playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Led by KL Rahul, LSG have built a well-rounded side packed with dynamic hitters, all-rounders, and a solid bowling unit. For the IPL 2024 season, the team will also have Justin Langer helming the coaching duties.

At the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai in December 2023, LSG shelled out Rs 12.2 crore for the services of six players - Shivam Mavi (Rs. 6.40 crore), Arshin Kulkarni (Rs. 20 lakh), M. Siddharth (Rs. 2.40 crore), Ashton Turner (Rs. 1 crore), David Willey (Rs. 2 crore), and Mohammed Arshad Khan (Rs. 20 lakh). They also traded seamer Avesh Khan for batter Devdutt Padikkal with the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 17th IPL season.

The team boasts a range of explosive batters in Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, and Deepak Hooda. The spin bowling department commands variety and experience in equal measure with the presence of Amit Mishra, Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi and K. Gowtham.

In a blow to the pace-bowling stocks, LSG lost English Mark Wood after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) pulled the seamer out from the tournament to manage his workload. Young West Indies sensation Shamar Joseph was instead named Wood's replacement for the upcoming season.
