The 2024 Indian Premier League is the 17th edition of the two-month-long cricketing extravaganza. Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings will be hoping to retain the trophy and thereby become the first team in history to win the title for a record 6th time. Mumbai Indians too are five-time victors. This year, the IPL starts from March 22 with a blockbuster clash between CSK and RCB in Chennai.

Ahead of the 2024 edition, Australia and Delhi Capitals batter David Warner tops the list with the most half centuries in the history of the league with 61 while he has also crossed 50-run mark 65 times. He is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli with 50 half centuries, Punjab Kings’ Shikhar Dhawan also with 50 half centuries as well as the retired South African and former RCB player AB de Villers with 40 half centuries. Mumbai Indians’ former skipper Rohit Sharma rounds off the table with 42 fifties of his own. De Villiers is just ahead of Sharma despite scoring fewer half centuries because he has played far fewer matches than the Indian captain.

In the 2023 edition, RCB captain Faf du Plessis had led the charts with eight half centuries, followed by Virat Kohli, David Warner and Chennai Super Kings/New Zealand’s Devon Conway who all had six half tons each. Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal occupied the fifth spot with five fifties of his own.
