A video of Pakistani actor-presenter Nadia Khan, hinting at a conspiracy to banish Pakistani actors from India, is doing the rounds on social media. Appearing on the show Kya Drama Hai, Nadia said that major Indian stars, including the three Khans – Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh – were threatened by the popularity of younger Pakistani actors such as Fawad Khan. The ban imposed on Pakistani actors wasn’t for political reasons, she said on the show, but because threatened Indian stars conspired against their Pakistani counterparts.

She said in Urdu, “When our actors, people like Fawad, started working in India and gaining massive popularity, some of India’s biggest actors became insecure. They made it an issue, and got them banned. It wasn’t like the politicians had issues with our actors, it was the Indian stars who felt threatened. They knew that the Indian public would go gaga over our stars, because they’re actually talented. They don’t need to show off their bodies; their eyes get the job done, and their dialogue delivery.”

She continued, “Now, the issue is that the Indian public actually loves our stars. You have no idea how popular they are over there. Pakistani shows are made at half the cost of Indian shows. And our artists are passionate, they want their work to be seen globally. You have no idea what kind of fan-following our stars enjoy there. The Khans are insecure. Because they don’t have stars in this age bracket there.”

The clip was widely shared online, sparking comments from both sides. “Delulu ki bhi seema hoti hai,” one person commented on X (formerly Twitter). “Waise she’s saying the truth,” another person commented. In a recent appearance on Ahmad Ali Butt’s YouTube channel, Fawad Khan was asked point-blank if his presence in the Hindi film industry was seen as a threat. “How do I know, man?” he said with a laugh. Heaving a sigh, he continued, “That’s such a heavy question. I got a lot of love from India, but look, every industry has its politics. In Pakistan as well. But it’s easier to combat in your own industry. I’m not saying it’s unheard of, I’m sure it happens everywhere. There was one thing, I had PRs, and they used to get angry at this… I was like, ‘I need you to take out my name, not put it in there’. I would ask my PR to remove me from places, not put me. My manager would say, ‘You don’t know how the world works’.”
