As political bickering within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) continues, the Nirbhay Bano Manch, a non-political organisation headed by environmentalist Vishambhar Chaudhari, advocate Asim Sarode and VB Utpal, has written to the party leaders to smoothen out their differences.

In a letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, the Manch has asked him to ensure that the Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) is included in the MVA.

In their letter, the Manch said the inclusion of the VBA in the INDIA bloc and also the MVA in Maharashtra would strengthen the opposition alliance. The Manch, has asked Kharge to step in to announce the names of six Lok Sabha seats that the MVA had offered to the VBA.

“Also a joint meeting between the Congress, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) and Ambedkar should be called immediately to sort out the differences,” the letter read.

With very few days left for filing of nominations, the Manch has also urged that the MVA should resolve their internal issues regarding seat sharing. The Manch said they believe that despite the bitter press statements, a reconciliation between the MVA and the VBA is possible and would be beneficial for the opposition alliance. Similar letters have been sent to the state leadership of the MVA too, said officials of the Manch.

Festive offer

The Manch’s letter comes at a time when the VBA has decided to chart its own course and has been announcing its candidates. The MVA has its own problems, with seat sharing talks between the constituents stuck at various places. However, the VBA’s decision to go solo has raised concerns in the MVA also.

Since the last 11 months, the Manch has been touring the state and campaigning against the ruling BJP. Choudhari and Sarode have addressed more than 60 public gatherings where they have talked about the need to uphold constitutional values.

A public meeting by the Manch in Pune had recently come to light when the car in which Sarode and Chaudhari and former journalist Nikhil Waghle were travelling had come under attack allegedly from supposed supporters.
