Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar this week moved into the new official residence, becoming the first functionary to get a home as a part of the Central Vista redevelopment. This, even as construction of the new PM’s residence is ongoing. Dhankhar’s shift into the Vice-President’s Enclave comes nearly two months after he performed a puja at the new residence on February 14. After the puja, it is learnt that certain issues regarding the construction were raised with the Central Public Works Department. Since then, the CPWD has addressed the issues, which were minor in nature, as per sources.
The Congress Wednesday expelled Sanjay Nirupam from the party citing complaints of indiscipline and anti-party statements. He had openly expressed his displeasure with the central leadership for giving the Mumbai North-West seat, from where he wanted to contest, to Shiv Sena (UBT). The question is whether the party would take action against new-entrant Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, who today filed his nomination for the Purnea seat in Bihar, which had gone to the RJD under the seat-sharing pact. Yadav had joined the Congress just a fortnight ago with much fanfare. So, will the party persuade him to withdraw or crack the whip?
