A day after the alleged murder of two persons close to the Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, police are yet to confirm whether their deaths are connected to an anti-CAA public meeting, which was held in the area earlier in the day.
According to a police official, the body of one of the deceased had been recovered close to Ichamati Bazaar after 6 pm on Wednesday, and the second body was found around four km away from there. They have been identified as Esan Singh and Sujit Dutta. “They are suspected to be murdered, but the postmortem is yet to be done,” said the official.
The deceased had been working and living in the area with their families, police said.
