Meghan Brown, 36, who formerly worked as an analyst with JP Morgan, received $35 million (approx Rs 292 crore) as compensation after the glass door of a building in New York City shattered on her. Reports said the incident took place in 2015, and she sustained permanent brain damage.
The video of the incident is making the rounds on the internet. Shared by user Collin Rugg, it captures the moment when Brown pushed the glass door to step out, and it shattered on her, leaving her in pain. As the clip progresses, it shows a few onlookers running to help Brown.
Sharing the video, Rugg wrote, “Former-JP Morgan analyst awarded $35 million after a glass door shattered on her in Manhattan. 36-year-old Meghan Brown was leaving a physical therapy appointment in 2015 when the glass door shattered on her.”
“Brown says the event caused a traumatic brain injury which she says ruined her career. The woman was out of a job for a year due to the incident and returned to JP Morgan where she worked until getting fired in 2021,” he added.
“Jurors awarded Brown $35,184,208 in damages after determining that building owner 271 Madison Co.’s negligence was “a substantial factor in causing” the injury,” Rugg informed.

Reacting to the video, a user commented, “That will be a fun appeal. Does she deserve something? Sure. But 35 million??? Nope.” Another user wrote, “She might as well have won the lottery.”
According to The New York Post, the incident left Brown with multiple health ailments, including PTSD decline in memory, sensitivity to light, focus and vocabulary, permanent headaches, neck pain, balance issues, and distorted depth perception. Reports also said Brown had to get a service dog to help prevent her from keep falling.
