Four persons, including a 55-year-old doctor, were killed and five suffered serious injuries when a cement-laden truck that first hit a motorcycle rider rammed into a shop and overturned in Kandhla town of Shamli, police said on Wednesday.
The motorcycle rider, Sonu (30), died after being knocked down by the truck and three persons were crushed to death after the vehicle overturned on the Delhi -Saharanpur Highway, police added.
“The injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital,” said Santosh Kumar Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shamli.
Police identified two of the three other victims as Dr Omveer Malik (55), Vishal (38), saying that efforts are on to ascertain the identity of another deceased person.
Those injured were identified as Phhol Singh, Dayaram, Ujjawal,Balbir and Yaqub,
police said, adding that a probe was underway.
